1965 AC Cobra 289

Offered for sale is a Kirkham Cobra prepared to full FIA specification and carrying the identity of the genuine 1965 CSX car CSX2562, officially registered in the United States in period.

Constructed in the early 2000s, the car has since enjoyed an active and successful competition life. It has been campaigned by notable historic racers including John Minshaw, Andrew Haddon and Chris Milner, appearing at prestigious events such as the Goodwood Members’ Meeting and in Masters Historic Racing.

The car is fully FIA compliant and meticulously maintained to the highest standard, making it a highly competitive and reliable entry for the world’s leading historic racing events.

Mechanically, the car is presented in excellent condition. The gearbox and differential have covered just five races, while the engine has completed only two test sessions since its full rebuild by renowned Cobra specialist Peter Knight, producing 461 bhp at 6,800 rpm. The car is fitted with an MSD ignition system, compliant with Peter Auto regulations.

Uniquely, this Cobra features the original FIA roadster specification, including the distinctive dashboard layout seen on CSX2345, making it the only Cobra currently configured in this manner.

The car is race-ready and supplied with its FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP), recently expired and straightforward to renew, and comes with a spare parts package.

It is eligible for all major historic racing series, as well as renowned competitive rallies such as the Tour Auto and Modena Cento Ore.
