1961 JAGUAR E-Type 3.8 Roadster Outside Bonnet Lock

Manufactured on 24 July 1961, chassis 875282 is a particularly desirable early-production Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 Roadster, featuring the characteristic Outside Bonnet Locks, welded bonnet louvres and flat floors of the earliest cars.
Delivered new through Jaguar Cars in New York, the car was originally finished in Cream with a Red interior and Black hood – the same elegant specification in which it is presented today. Its Jaguar Heritage certificate records engine R1363-9, body R1401 and gearbox EB463JS.
Following many years in the United States, the E-Type was imported into the UK in 2017 and subsequently underwent an exceptionally comprehensive nut-and-bolt restoration, completed in 2019 after approximately 2,254 hours of work. The project involved respected Jaguar specialists including Guy Broad, Neil Howe Racing, M&C Wilkinson, Martin Robey and Aldridge Trimming, with particular emphasis placed on retaining the car's original specification and important early-production components.
Now registered in France, the Jaguar has continued to be carefully maintained following its restoration, with documentation extending through 2026.
Presented in excellent condition, this early 3.8-litre Roadster is accompanied by an unusually extensive history file including Jaguar Heritage certification, restoration documentation and invoices, registration and import records, technical inspections and a 2023 independent expert appraisal.
